Ford Earns Most J.D. Power APEAL Awards, Buckle Up!

The Ford Motor Company has earned five awards at the prestigious 2019 J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. The number of wins puts Ford at the top, having secured more recognitions than any other company or brand. Ford Trucks were the stars of the night, securing wins in all three pick up segments. The all-new Ford Ranger won the best Midsize Pick Up award of the year. The crowd-favorite Ford F-150 was the best Large Light Duty Pick Up for the year 2019, making it the winner of this segment for the third consecutive year. Another Ford truck, the powerful Ford Super Duty F-450, won the award for best Large Heavy-Duty Pickup. Amongst SUVs, Ford once again made its mark, with the Ford Expedition emerging as the winner in the category of Best Large SUV of 2019. In the segment of luxury vehicles, the suave and stylish Lincoln Navigator gained the top spot for the best Large Premium SUV of 2019. The car continues to be a top-three model and also earned the recognition of the highest 2018 APEAL score of any model in this generation of the study.

This year, Ford secured a four-segment award and a total score of 828 in 1000. With four-point leverage as compared to 2018, the brand averages 10 points higher amongst other non-premium brands in this range. Ford's chief product development and purchasing officer, Hau Thai-Tang, believes that customer insights are to be credited for this incredible win. Through this recognition, Ford has asserted dominance across several categories.

With regular customer insights and reciprocation of the needs of the customer, the company has been able to deliver what the population wishes to see in a car. Awards and recognitions like the J.D. Power’s APEAL Study reinforces the winning streak in the brand and motivates them to continue delivering high-quality vehicles. The J.D. Power’s APEAL Study aims to measure car owners’ emotional attachment to their vehicles. The study is carried out in a more detailed manner, by noting simple things like how powerful the driver feels while handling the vehicle or how much comfort they feel in the driver’s seat. The brand conducts an intricate study measuring quality across 77 attributes.
